John 5 is ready to shout his love for KISS out loud, with the Mötley Crüe guitarist having just announced he’s opening up his very own KISS-themed museum in Los Angeles, California.
A press release confirms that John 5 is going to put his personal and enormous haul of KISS collectibles on display at his Knights In Satan Service Museum of KISS Memorabilia, a temporary exhibit that runs through most of May.
The museum will feature more than 2,500 items John 5 has held onto over the years, from an authentic pair of Gene Simmons’ Destroyer-era boots and a banner from the 1974 “National KISS-Off” kissing contest, to show posters and pinball machines and more.
The items in question document KISS’ history from 1973-83, thought the museum project also reflects John 5’s “lifelong journey of collecting anything and everything from the Starchild, the Demon, the Spaceman and the Catman.”
“In June 1977, when I was 7-years-old, my mom took me to Sears where I saw a record store display for KISS’ album Love Gun. I loved monsters and music and begged my mom for the record,” the guitarist recalled in a statement. “Hearing it for the first time was a total epiphany for me. And any time a birthday or Christmas rolled around, I got a new KISS poster or merch. Collecting became a huge part of my life.”
John 5 added that his obsession with KISS has led him to track down merch and memorabilia items all over the world “from Argentina to Chile, Taiwan to Japan.”
The Knights In Satan Service Museum will feature guided tours from John 5, and he said he may even challenge attendees to a pinball battle. His museum is open May 5th-9th, 12th-16th, 19th-23rd and May 27th-30th, with tickets costing $500 USD.
