Loss Becomes have made a major breakthrough.
Three years on from the release of the melodic New York metalcore faction’s self-titled debut album, the quartet are smashing into their next phase with a new single called “Broken Mirrors.” And it turns out they’ve brought along a friend with them: Killswitch Engage frontman Jesse Leach,
The track hits at the hardcore, metalcore, and modern rock flourishes Loss Becomes peppered into that first album, with “Broken Mirrors” arriving spiked with a double-kick-pedal intensity, dark-edged riffs and fretboard-fiery licks from guitarist Brian Tsao and more.
Vocalist Anthony Copozzi surges through the verses with reflective screams discussing a run of bad luck and the bad taste he’s got in his mouth. Leach punctuates Loss Becomes’ frontman’s thoughts a few times before taking over in a raw-throated bridge section.
“This song is pretty much summed up as a conversation about OCD, something I’ve dealt with as far back as I can remember,” Copozzi explained of “Broken Mirrors” in a statement. “So, the idea of ‘bad luck’ has always been a funny thing that I’ve both been afraid of and laughed at continuously.
As for sharing mic-time with Leach, Loss Becomes’ frontman added that the collab was “one of the best moments in my musical career.
“He’s someone I’ve looked up to for many years and now I’m able to call him my friend. It’s an honor and a privilege to work with someone that can challenge you and step up your game, while also helping craft your art into something bigger and better. What a dream come true.”
While the details have yet to be released, “Broken Mirrors” is teased to be a part of the band’s upcoming sophomore album.
As previously reported, Leach has been in guest-vocalist mode throughout 2024, having popped up on Terminal Nation’s “Merchant of Bloodshed” track earlier in the spring.
