Here’s some horror-metal news tailor made for the Easter long weekend: Ice Nine Kills frontman Spencer Charnas has been confirmed to be a co-writer of an upcoming, seemingly sacrilegious lil slasher flick going by the pun-ful title of Slashin’ of the Christ.
News of the flick unfolded over the past few days through the launching of a website, as well as socials accounts, which confirm Charnas co-wrote a script treatment alongside Broken Lizard comedy troupe member Paul Soter (Super Troopers, Club Dread).
The film is also being presented by legendary genre filmmaker, makeup FX artist and The Walking Dead executive producer Greg Nicotero, who is co-producing alongside Brian Witten and Chris Nillsson.
A synopsis for the film has yet to be revealed, but there’s currently some lore-building going on between the site and Slashin’ of the Christ’s socials. In particular, it looks like the flick may take place at a “St. Bishop’s College,” an “academic haven” with a faith-based curriculum and a staff that totally don’t have “dark skeletons in their closets.” As for the student body, well, 13 undergrads have been “found mysteriously butchered” in St. Bishop’s 156-year history.

In more concrete INK news, the group resume their supporting role on Metallica’s “M72 World Tour” this week, with the first show back set to take place this Saturday (April 26th) in Toronto, Ontario.
They also have a handful of headlining shows taking place throughout the spring, including “The Silver Scream-A-Thon” dates, which will find Charnas and his band performing their game-changing The Silver Scream and The Silver Scream 2: Welcome to Horrorwood albums in full on their respective evenings.
