Break out the balloons and buckets of gore: horror-loving meta-core crew Ice Nine Kills are set to release a new song saluting the Terrifier franchise’s sicko slasher villain, Art the Clown. The band’s tribute is titled “A Work of Art,” and a music video co-starring System of a Down/Seven Hours After Violet bassist Shavo Odadjian is set to debut later this week at the film premiere behind director Damien Leone’s Terrifier 3.
The new INK track was officially announced over the weekend at Ice Nine leader Spencer Charnas’ third annual Silver Scream Con in Worcester, MA. There, it was explained that the song will pop up in the third Terrifier film, which is set to be screened this Thursday (September 19th) at Austin, Texas’ Fantastic Fest. As a longtime lover of horror, Charnas was psyched to have INK hop into the sadistic world of Art the Clown.
“The Terrifier franchise gave us Art the Clown, the greatest new horror icon in decades,” Charnas explained during part of a Silver Scream Con panel, which you can see below. “We are beyond honored by the invitation to play within the viciously delightful universe Damien Leone and his incredible team have created. The Art and INK fanbases are one and the same, and we heard the screams for this collaboration loud and clear.”
A music video for “A Work of Art” will be screened right after the world premiere of Terrifier 3. The vid was directed by longtime INK collaborator Jensen Noen, and it co-stars David Howard Thornton, (a.k.a. Art the Clown) and Odadjian, Catherine Corcoran (Terrifier), Leah Voysey (Terrifier 2), Sirius XM’s Jose Mangin and Vincent Rockwell, Richard Christy (Drummer for Death, Control Denied, and Charred Walls of the Damned), and more.
The seven-minute “A Work of Art” video likewise features special effects from Academy Award-winning effects artist Christopher Nelson (Suicide Squad, “American Horror Story,” Halloween Ends). It’s unclear how the song may play into the broader storytelling of INK’s Silver Scream narrative, but it’s bound to get gory.
Following it’s world premiere, Terrifier 3 is set to hit select AMC Theaters across the U.S. October 10th.
