Y’all thirsty for more Ho99o9?
Though it’s been a while since we last heard from the L.A. rap-punk duo, theOGM and Yeti Bones are making it rain with the sounds of their new “Upside Down” single, which precedes a forthcoming LP titled Tomorrow We Escape.
The group’s newest song merges nu-grooved guitar with a mix of moodily-crooned and rapped vocals. Some of these land both ominous or optimistic (“We were made to sin, only you can control how”).
Ho99o9 — who count Corey Taylor, Korn and Travis Barker among their cult following — paired this with a music video where they’re running a natural resource racket out of a cave, bottling U.S. water and selling it on the streets. A press release describes the video as being “set in a world where the Chinese Yuan is world currency and water has become a black market commodity.” theOGM and Yeti Bones likewise sing their song to the camera while wielding some serious medieval hardware.
As for the album, Tomorrow We Escape marks the third official studio album from Ho99o9 and follows 2022’s SKIN. The record is said to continue with Ho99o9’s heady mix of hip-hop, digital hardcore, punk, metal, industrial and more, though it’s added that theOGM and Yeti Bones may be leaning into their most personal lyrics yet.
“When we started this process, we knew we wanted to make more relatable songs,” theOGM explained. “It was a healthy challenge to focus on emotion. In the past, a lot of our material was politically charged. That element is present to a degree, but we wanted to take a more personal route. This mindset drove how we wrote songs. Everybody has a struggle. The goal is to find motivation for preservation.”

On the live front, Ho99o9 will be performing on the Vans Warped Tour at the Long Beach stop (July 26th and 27th) and have also announced a summer Australian tour with the Dillinger Escape Plan.
