Hear UNDEROATH members join STATIC DRESS on feral song “Nostalgia Kills”

Static Dress have entered their next era — and they’ve brought Underoath members Spencer Chamberlain and Aaron Gillespie along with them. To promote an impending sophomore LP, the rising U.K. post-hardcore force have premiered a new single called “Nostalgia Kills” that features the veteran musicians providing some extra-intense guest performances.

The team-up, which appears on the upcoming  injury episode LP, doesn’t come out of nowhere, and instead reunites the two friendly acts — Static Dress had supported Underoath on a North American tour back in 2024.

The single finds Static Dress alternating between piercing panic chords and tumble-down-the-stairs beatwork and anthemically melancholic grooves. Frontman Olli Appleyard and bassist George Holding lean into the earliest screams, but Chamberlain hits the mic hard in the beastly bridge, while Gillespie adds more tuneful vocal accoutrement.

“‘Nostalgia Kills’ has allowed us to demonstrate the elevation of this band between all four members,” Appleyard adds in a statement. “It’s shown not only how much we’ve all grown as musicians individually, but together, to create something which is sonically stronger than we’ve ever been. Also, having the opportunity to have a band like Underoath on it feels like a stamp of approval from real legends of the post-hardcore genre.”

As for the music video, it mixes performance footage of Static Dress getting drenched on a soundstage with remote shots of Gillespie and Chamberlain. It also features artier autopsy scenes that perhaps allude to the record’s “surreal allegory” for trauma and loss.

It’s further explained in a press release thatinjury episode found Static Dress cutting several songs in single takes, and it is likewise the first LP to feature writing contributions from the entire band — which also includes guitarist Vin Weight and drummer Sam Ogden. A full tracklisting has yet to appear, but injury episode, which follows 2022’s Rouge Carpet Disaster, includes both “Nostalgia Kills” and the recently delivered “human props” single.

The album sees release May 29th through Sumerian Records. Exclusive pre-orders for injury episode on vinyl (limited to 200 copies) and cassette (limited to 50 copies) are available now in Revolver’s shop.

As previously announced, Static Dress are set to return to North America this July when they act as support on Motionless in White’s next headlining tour. You’ll find the date details here.
