Following a few teases across May, Tom Morello has delivered his “ADJOURN IT” collaborative “freedom song” with his guitar-playing son, Roman, and System of a Down vocalist Serj Tankian.
The team-up had been announced earlier this month over socials, in a post that found the Morellos flanking Tankian. It was described in said post that “‘ADJOURN IT’ was inspired by “the persecution of immigrants across the land and the counterforce of a heroic resistance to the rising tide of fascism.” They added that the track is a “‘Freedom Song’ of crushing riffs for justice and equality.”
Later, Morello posted a video clip of he and his son laying down guitars on the song, while the patriarch was also seen approaching the mic. This was scored by effects-processed riffage and an impending crush of drums.
Now, the trio have unveiled the riff-rocker in full, merging Morello-style groove brawn and effects-warped moments with he and Tankian’s lines on racism and politics. The song is on streamers now, and can likewise be peeped in the video up above.
As previously reported, Tom Morello recently announced the upcoming Power to the People fest in Columbia, Maryland. The one-day event will feature performances from Morello, Tankian, Foo Fighters, Bruce Springsteen and more. The show also has Roman Morello performing with Jack Black, XCOMM drummer Revel Ian and more.
