This is not a drill! Following their reunion announcement earlier this year, Canadian rockers Three Days Grace have released their first song with classic vocalist Adam Gontier back on the mic. The comeback single is titled “Mayday,” and it’s been paired with a new, skies-soaring music vid.
As previously reported, the band confirmed Gontier’s return back in October, while adding that the singer would be co-piloting vocal duties alongside guitarist Matt Walst. Funnily enough, the pair are literally charting a flight together video, which was directed by CiRCUS HEaD. Turns out the rest of the band — lead guitarist Barry Stock, bassist Brad Walst and drummer Neil Sanderson — are in for a bumpy ride. Sonically, Three Days Grace’s latest single lean into a melodically-bruising modern rock aesthetic, with both singers on high alert as they take stock of the waking world.
“This song is a reflection of the current state of the world, an unsettling mix of disillusionment, exhaustion and denial. The sense that we’re all on the brink—emotionally, socially and environmentally, yet we refuse to admit defeat,” the group said in a joint statement. “So even though we feel like we are barely surviving we keep on moving forward, one foot in front of the other.”
“Mayday” was produced by Zakk Cervini and Dan Lancaster, and features additional vocal production by Howard Benson. It’s unclear as yet if the single will be part of a forthcoming album. Three Days Grace’s last full-length was 2022’s Explosions. Gontier’s last album with the band was 2012’s Transit of Venus.
Three Days Grace will be back out on the road in 2025, having booked a tour opening for Disturbed and an additional festival slot at Sonic Temple.
