Though Testament just atomized us with the release of their thrash-nasty Para Bellum album, the Bay Area icons are now saluting the mighty Metallica with a killer new cover. Specifically, they just powered out a take on Kill ‘Em All’s “Seek & Destroy” for an upcoming ‘Tallica tribute LP.
Testament’s cover teases the forthcoming No Life ’Til Leather – A Tribute to Metallica’s Kill ’Em All, a track-by-track re-envisioning of Metallica’s 1983 debut LP that also features new and previously released tributes from Saxon, Diamond Head, Motörhead, former Megadeth bassist Dave Ellefson and more.
As for Testament’s revamp, it plays things relatively close to the chest, but includes a few intense double-kick workouts, differently-shredded solos and more. “We had fun covering Metallica’s song ‘Seek & Destroy’,” vocalist Chuck Billy confirmed in a statement, adding of the classic track, “Songs like this started a movement.”
It’s nothing new, but “Seek & Destroy” still drives us plenty insane. You can hear Testament’s fist-pumping Metallica remake up above.
No Life ’Til Leather – A Tribute to Metallica’s Kill ’Em All is out November 14th through Silver Lining Music, though it can also be pre-ordered now in Revolver’s shop.
