Louisiana sludge-doom titans Thou have surprise-released a new full-length, The House Primordial. The 10-track LP — the group’s first standalone album since 2014’s Heathen — features some of their most atmospheric material to date, awash in industrial grooves and unsettling ambient textures hearkening back to You, Whom I Have Always Hated, 2015’s collaborative effort alongside New England noise posse the Body. This follows Thou’s split with the grindcore-leaning HIRS Collective, which dropped late last month.
