We’ve been hypnotized by the enigmatic run of singles sace6 have surged our way this year, and that continues today (April 9th) with the arrival of another pop-djenting preview of the duo’s forthcoming brutalist LP. This time, they’ve charmed us with the aptly-named new song “allured.”
The track, which follows this year’s “covet” and “ego” outings, once again merges the down-soft falsetto of vocalist sace with the chug-textured melodicism and screeching owl string experimentalism of low-tuned guitarist-producer Noah Thomas — though the latter also power-howls through an emotions-damaged late-song moment (“Does it hurt anymore?”).
The duo explained in a statement that “the devastating atmosphere” conjured on this latest single represents “the wall of confidence and certainty used to mask one’s insecurities.”
They continue: “‘allured’ recognizes the true personality of someone who seeks validation from others by making themselves and everyone around them believe their worth and intentions the way they wish they truly were.”
As previously reported, sace6’s first full-length sees release May 8th via Sumerian Records. An exclusive pre-order for the LP on limited “Black in Silver in Cloudy Clear” vinyl has already sold out, though copies on “metallic silver” vinyl can be pre-order in Revolver’s shop.
