Poppy brings us ever-closer to the light with the latest illuminating reveal from her forthcoming Empty Hands LP — and the multi-hyphenate artist is primed to protect her legacy with the newly unveiled “Guardian.”
The single is the third album preview thus far, and Poppy teased it earlier this week via a brief video that found the artist enclosed within an unknown abyss, and then encountering a truly radiant figure. Scored by a fantastical swirl of synths, they entwine like actors performing a move-mimicking marionette exercise.
Now, with the song out in full, we can hear that it kicks off with some deeply melodic, yet iron-plated power-chording, while Poppy sings of people spiraling out, the plans others have to “drain you,” and the liars and cowards in our midst. Through it all, Poppy pledges to be our eternal guardian.
Let Poppy protect you by giving her heavy-pop anthem and its video a stream up above.
As previously reported, Empty Hands is out January 23rd via Sumerian Records. The album once again finds Poppy working with producer and former Bring Me the Horizon member Jordan Fish, whom she’d collaborated with on 2024’s Negative Spaces. The record, Poppy’s seventh full-length overall, had previously been teased by the “Bruised Sky” and “Unravel” singles.
A pre-order for Empty Hands on exclusive “Hot Pink & Bone”-colored vinyl, limited to 500 copies, is up now over in Revolver’s shop. Additionally, another limited-edition pressing of Empty Hands can be pre-ordered here via Revolver’s sister publication, Alternative Press.
Next year, Poppy will be the direct support on the UK and European legs of Evanescence’s world tour — which also finds Spiritbox filling that role in North America. You’ll find all of the date details here.
