Following Kami Kehoe’s recent arena tour supporting Daughtry, Seether and P.O.D., the alt-rock singer has served up a new single tailor-made to reach the back of the rafters. Her latest anthem is called “FADE OUT.”
The song marks Kehoe’s first studio release since delivering her KANDY EP in the summer, though “FADE OUT” made an early appearance in her setlist on that fall arena run. The song was produced by Curt Martin, and a press release explains that Kehoe’s raspy, emotions-heavy vibrato “confronts the pain of lingering memories and the tension that comes with seeing someone who no longer belongs in her world.”
That manifests through heart-haunted lyrics (“Get out my mind/Get out my life”) that coast above echo-plated piano tones, dark-but-bombastic bursts of guitar and a steady-swung beat. While Martin noted in a statement that the massive arrangement reflects how Kehoe “came [into the studio] carrying real emotion and vulnerability,” it apparently took time for the singer to tap into that rawness.
“‘Fade Out’ was definitely a harder song for me to write,” Kehoe explained. “I was going through a really low point and all I can remember was feeling like it was never ending.
“I ended up calling my mom during the spiral and she told me, ‘It will all fade,’ and ‘One day you’ll look back, and you won’t even remember,’ and the next day I went into the studio and wrote ‘Fade Out.’”
On top of playing her largest shows yet, Kehoe’s big 2025 also found KANDY single “Dopamine” racking up more than 10 million streams.
