Coming off its live debut earlier this spring, venerated alternative rockers Jane’s Addiction have unveiled an official studio version of new tune “Imminent Redemption.”
The song, which Jane’s had premiered live at London’s Bush Hall venue in May, is notably the first studio single from the classic lineup of vocalist Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro, bassist Eric Avery and drummer Stephen Perkins since 1990’s Ritual de lo Habitual album. The band’s recent performance was their first show with that lineup since 2010.
With the song itself, it’s a rumbling rocker that cascades through both mountain-leveling drum work and a more esoteric, Hendrix-chord splatter from Navarro. As you’ll hear up above in the lyric video, Farrell discusses instant karma up front, but soon gets meta-referential in the reunion single through lines like “let’s launch us a comeback.”
“It is different this time,” the band said in a joint statement. “To have everyone back together, releasing new music. It’s time. Welcome to the next chapter of Jane’s Addiction. ‘Imminent Redemption’ is only the beginning.”
As previously announced, Jane’s Addiction are likewise hitting the road next month, with a North American tour alongside Love and Rockets kicking off at Las Vegas’ Fontainebleau venue on August 9th. You’ll find the rest of the route here.
