Coming off last month’s nu-grooved “Upside Down” single, the first tease of Ho99o9’s forthcoming Tomorrow We Escape album, the rap-punk fusionists have now unveiled a synth-screeching, guests-loaded follow-up called “Incline.”
The track was produced alongside Dave Sitek (TV on the Radio), and likewise features contributions from UK duo Nova Twins, Pink Siifu, and Yung Skrrt. As for Ho99o9 proper, theOGM dips into an intro verse about commerce and hypocrisy, while Yeti Bones infuses his bars with fuck-around-and-find-out fury, and also makes mention that he’s been hangin’ onto a “Number 8 Slipknot ski mask.”
The video finds the pair hitting push-ups, subversively saluting the almighty dollar, aerosol-torching their way out of the darkness, and likewise blazing up.
As previously reported, Tomorrow We Escape is said to find the act refining their blend of hip-hop, digital hardcore, punk, metal, industrial and more, though it’s added that theOGM and Yeti Bones may be dialing into their most personal set of lyrics yet.
“It was a healthy challenge to focus on emotion,” the pair wrote in a joint statement. “In the past, a lot of our material was politically charged. That element is present to a degree, but we wanted to take a more personal route. This mindset drove how we wrote songs. Everybody has a struggle. The goal is to find motivation for preservation.”
Ho99o9 had already confirmed that the arrives September 9th, but the newly-delivered tracklisting reveals that the record includes additional guest spots from Chelsea Wolfe, Better Lovers vocalist Greg Puciato, MoRuf and more.
