Back with their fifth collaborative single since September, Los Angeles–based electronic-noise-rock act HEALTH have joined forces with rapper (and controversial Revolver cover star) Ghostemane for a sick new two-minute jam titled “Judgement Night.” The song upholds HEALTH’s commitment to creating spacious, eerie atmosphere but also incorporates a hard-hitting beat perfect for Ghoste to flow over. Unsettling yet infectious, the cut is an ideal fusion of haunting and hooky; refrains of “God is a no show” repeat over the ethereal vocals of HEALTH vocalist Jake Duzsik, giving the grief track deceptive depth and expansiveness.
A Zev Deans–directed video accompanies the release, imagining the musicians as characters in a retro video game where the “player” can adventure through different spooky scenes such as a graveyard, a torture chamber and a hallway in a haunted house. Little Easter eggs pop up throughout, framed as clues that help advance the player to the next game while shooting off the musicians’ clothes and limbs and setting a church on fire in the background.
Health’s most recent LP Vol. 4 :: Slaves of Fear is out now and available for purchase and streaming here. The group are currently on an extensive tour through late July — find dates near you below. For his part, Ghostemane will shortly hit the road in North America with Revolver favorites Ho99o9.
