Dave Grohl grew up going to punk and hardcore shows in Washington, D.C. — and likewise played in scene luminaries Scream — so he naturally has a lot of love for early Eighties icons like Minor Threat. Just in case you needed proof, Foo Fighters have just issued a raging cover of that band’s “I Don’t Wanna Hear It,” which was apparently 30 years in the making.
The cover was posted onto Foo Fighters’ official YouTube page today (June 30th), and per the description, the music was tracked all the way back in 1995, while Grohl slapped on some screams sometime this year.
It’s a reasonably straight-forward take on the track, which initially appeared on Minor Threat’s debut 7-inch from 1980. The beats are drilled-down double time, the guitar chords are crisp but blistering, and Grohl sneers out Ian MacKaye’s shit-disturbing screams with gusto.

As previously reported, Foo Fighters recently split with live drummer Josh Freese, who’d joined up with the band following the death of longtime drummer Taylor Hawkins in 2022. Their new drummer has yet to be announced, but the Foos next hit the stage October 2nd at Jakarta, Indonesia’s Carnaval Ancol.
