Fit for a King have opted to share their crown with another heavy royal: Motionless in White frontman, Chris Motionless. The two factions have teamed up for Fit for a King’s latest Lonely God teaser, “Witness the End.”
The single — which follows “Lonely God” and “Begin the Sacrifice” — blasts out the gate with some hyper-snared chaos and a wall-leveling round of guitar damage. Ryan Kirby tees things off on the mic with a severe set of screams about tasting a “false eternity,” rotting gods and a general lack of faith.
This all plays out in a church-set music video where a priest douses himself in rancid holy water ahead of some profane rituals. Then Chris Motionless pops into frame like a gothic goblin to screech out the second verse.
The group explained in a statement that “Witness The End” offers “the most unpredictable experience of any song on Lonely God,” and likewise that it took inspiration from Netflix miniseries Midnight Mass, and its vampiric notions of good vs. evil.
By video’s end, Kirby and Motionless are howling in tandem, while the priest learns a valuable lesson about why you shouldn’t carve your initials into a tree you just Frenched.
“We didn’t care what anybody thought — we just wanted to write a deathcore song,” Fit for a King added of the song, in general. “It turned out to be really special. Chris did not disappoint either.
As previously reported, Lonely God was recorded in Los Angeles, California alongside producer Daniel Braunstein (Spiritbox). The band revealed that the full-length was written with “no agendas” other than pleasing themselves.
