Turnstile tasked a bunch of their friends to reimagine their Grammy-winning album, NEVER ENOUGH, which landed today as the wildly diverse NEVER ENOUGH: VERSIONS. Among covers from the worlds of R&B, rock, indie and a legit redux from Elton fucking John, perhaps no version will get your head banging like the blast-flapping take on “BIRDS” from death-metal titans Dying Fetus.
The extreme take builds off the hardcore pace of the original “Birds,” but ups the ante with death-trilled guitar lines and mega-fracked snare attacks. Bassist John Gallagher tries to gruff up Brendan Yates’ chipper “free, free, free” section with his harsher vocal style, but it’s hard to shake the playful syncopation entirely.

Turnstile are set to play Seattle, Washington’s annual Bumbershoot festival before hopping into a series of headline dates, which find them supported on select dates by Haywire, Porches, Vince Staples, Hatebreed, Texas is the Reason and many more. The date info is here.
