Brand of Sacrifice are back with a pair of hard-hitting tracks, marking the Canadian deathcore menaces’ first material since 2023.
The band launched their next era today (June 17th) by unveiling a visualizer for new song “Seeing Red,” described in a press release as concerning “the desperate search for agency when everything feels unstable.” And, indeed, the single shakes the earth to its core with a mutli-pivoted arrangement of hammer blasts, glacial sub-drops and hellacious groove.
Between that, the psycho-mode noise-riffs and vocalist Kyle Anderson’s blisteringly meta gutturals (“The Brand it bleeds”), “Seeing Red” should bring a tear to your deathcore-lovin eyes — either that or a geyser of crimson will start shooting out your oculars.
On top of this, Brand of Sacrifice delivered “This Place Wasn’t Meant for Us,” a moodier tension-builder full of ambient textures, reality-distorting guitar chugs and a terror-stricken, sprechesang-style vocal performance from Anderson. Eventually, the song kicks into a lean and filthy mosh.
“While these songs push Brand of Sacrifice forward, they also reconnect with elements of our past, drawing inspiration from the atmosphere and emotion of [2018’s] The Interstice and our sophomore release, [2021’s] Lifeblood,” Anderson notes in a statement of the tunes, which follow the band’s late 2023 single, “Purge.”
“We wanted to strip things back and focus on something more visceral, and honest while capturing a sense of nostalgia without simply repeating ourselves. We’re very proud of these tracks and can’t wait for everyone to experience this next chapter with us.”
