Better Lovers — the hardcore-contorting supergroup featuring former members of Every Time I Die and Dillinger Escape Plan — are ready to take you on a ride. Nearly a year on from the release of their debut album, Highly Irresponsible, the act have delivered their first song of 2025: “Don’t Forget to Say Please.”
The new single near-immediately spirals through eight-armed drum fills, circuitously carnival-esque guitarmonies that recall Until Your Heart Stops-era Cave In, and a fitting round of howls from vocalist Greg Puciato about hitting the merry-go-round.
A music video connects to that line quite directly, as members of the band went to a local fair to take a painted pony ride, cruise on coasters, chat up the midway workers, and keep things graphically on-brand for Better Lovers by collecting frog dolls and buying a t-shirt with an airbrushed amphibian on it.
While it looks pretty slick, Better Lovers wrote on Instagram that they produced the visuals on the cheap.
“We blew our video budget at the dog track,” they explained. “There was heavy chalk on a dog named Goose [Holyoak, drummer]. Shoulda been a lock. It was not a lock.
“So with nothing but some leftover Best Buy gift cards from Christmas we had no choice but to buy a Go Pro, strap it to Steve [Micciche, bassist] and send him to the Erie County Fair.”
As previously reported, Better Lovers are getting ready to hit the road for an upcoming fall U.S. tour. The trip — which will see them joined on select dates by Soul Blind, Johnny Booth, Hong Kong Fuck You! and Atomic Rule — begins November 13th at Greensboro, North Carolina’s Hangar 1819.
