India’s Bloodywood are back on the attack with their second new single this fall. Coming off the heels of their hometown-celebrating “Nu Delhi,” the cross-cultural folk-metal combo have teamed up with Japanese faves BABYMETAL to deliver the collaborative “Bekhauf.”
The song, which marks Bloodywood’s second piece of new music for Fearless Records, swirls together violently double-kicked drum beats with hummably-detuned guitar incandescence and a touch of electronic sparkle. Throughout, Bloodywood inject a mix of barks, raps and croons, while the BABYMETAL team fit the heavy-pop chorus with some bubbly melodies, too.
The song title “Bekhauf,” Bloodywood explain in a joint statement, translates from Hindi to English as “fearless” — an auspicious note, considering the band’s current label home — and the piece was “born out of the realization that fear can be seen as a choice, and that choice is our own.
They added: “It’s about using this knowledge to take control of our fears and eliminate the side of them that holds us back.”
“Bekhauf,” which teases a forthcoming album release in 2025, likewise marks the first time Bloodywood have put together a collaborative track, and it sounds like they were supremely stoked to link up with BABYMETAL.
“We were all fans of their music, but were still surprised by the level of synergy we managed to achieve on the track,” Bloodywood added. “It’s a trilingual song and features English, Hindi and Japanese, BABYMETAL even sang some parts in Hindi. But we think you can feel the message regardless and that’s a testament to this synergy.”
