Since 2021, Avenged Sevenfold members Zacky Vengeance, Johnny Christ and Brooks Wackerman have made it their business — their horror business, you could even say — to cover the Misfits for Halloween. While the metal icons called for our “Skulls” just last week, they’re now celebrating Glenn Danzig and Co. with a bonus run-through of Misfits’ equally eerie, and especially seasonal “Halloween” single.
A7X’s cover takes on a different flavor than the horror-punk original — and likewise compared to Misfits’ pitch-shifted “Halloween II” sequel, and Danzig’s further chunkified remake when he was with Samhain. Released earlier today (October 29th), the cover quivers out via acoustic guitars and brush-shuffled snare hits, while Vengeance gets ghoulishly croony while describing a wicked night when the bonfires were burning bright .

As previously reported, the A7X members’ first two Misfits covers, of “Last Caress” and “Hybrid Moments,” came packaged with performance videos of Vengeance, Christ and Wackerman rocking Misfits’ iconic skull makeup. Last year, the trio released an audio-only version of “Astro Zombies.”
