Hear ARCH ENEMY’s first song with new singer LAUREN HART “To the Last Breath”

Following last week’s cryptic, torch-passing video teaser,  Arch Enemy have returned with a single and a brand-new vocalist: extreme singer Lauren Hart. Together, they launch their next era through the new song “To the Last Breath.”

As previously reported, the long-running band wiped their social accounts last week before unveiling a teaser clip that featured someone thrusting a torch in the air. Some — to be fair, this including Revolver — had speculated that former vocalist Angela Gossow, who had been tagged in the post, might be making a return to the mic.

Obviously, this was not the case. Gossow shot down the rumor over the weekend in Arch Enemy’s Instagram comments, thanking folks for the love while reiterating that she is currently the band’s manager.

As for “To the Last Breath,” described in a press release as “a testament to the band’s legacy, and a step towards a new exciting era of Arch Enemy,” the song furiously double-kicks its way out the gates with heavy, melodic riffage. Former Once Human vocalist Hart leans into a mega-nasty rasp throughout, with the silver-tongued lyrics finding someone triumphing over adversity and claiming “the crown” (“Do or die, it’s time to rise”). Keeping on theme, it literally includes a line about taking the torch.

“Connecting with Lauren has marked an important step in my journey,” guitarist Michael Amott adds in a statement. “Working with her was an exceptional experience — her remarkable voice, coupled with her dedication and professionalism, brings a rare level of excellence. I look forward to continuing the collaboration.”

Arch Enemy are further celebrating today’s big reveal by announcing a European tour later this summer. Those dates can be found below.
