L.A. industrial riders HEALTH have announced a new wave is upon us. Following this spring’s collaborative “MEAN” single with Chelsea Wolfe, the act have now confirmed the details behind their next album, CONFLICT DLC — which they’re also previewing through a mechano-swung anthem titled “ORDINARY LOSS.”
While HEALTH’s latest track starts softly with glow-coated synth ambiance and effects-dripping coos from the band’s Jacob Duzsik, it quickly vamps into heartily chugged guitars and triplet-swung industrial beats. Throughout, Duzsik reflects on loss (“All that’s left is sadness”) and the finality of death (“The dead are blessed with no dreams”).
CONFLICT DLC follows 2023’s Rat Wars. The 12-song release was produced by STINT, mixed by Drew Fulk (Knocked Loose) and Lars Stalfors, and is said to further HEALTH’s “dark, unflinching worldview” as an “album of anger, fear, and catharsis built for the end times.” Notably, the record features bleak song titles including “TRASH DECADE,” “DARKAGE” and “DON’T KILL YOURSELF.”
“No, it’s not just your imagination. The future is shit and the phone you are reading this on is making it worse, but please don’t put it down,” Duzsik said in a statement, adding, “We are delighted to announce 12 new tracks of anger, fear, sadness and death, and to beg for yet more of your addled attention.”
CONFLICT DLC is out December 11th via Loma Vista Recordings, but pre-orders for an exclusive vinyl variant on coke bottle clear wax (limited to 400) is up now in Revolver’s shop, where you can likewise find other HEALTH albums and t-shirts.
