Haywire announced during their Sound and Fury fest performance last weekend that they signed to Roadrunner Records to release a new album called I Don’t Wanna Say Goodbye. Today (August 19th), the Boston hardcore act have delivered a road-ready taste of the upcoming LP in the form of its first single, “Interstate Love Affair.”
A new video for the track begins with live footage from Haywire’s Sunday night (August 16th) set at Los Angeles, California’s Exposition Park. That night, vocalist Austin Sparkman joked about the signing by saying they sold out to the man for a “six-figure deal,” and that they were about to “forget about hardcore.” He quickly reiterated that the band weren’t turning their back on the scene, and that they were still gonna do whatever they wanted — this including blasting the festival crowd with $5,000 in cold-hard cash that they spread around the pit with some leaf blowers.
Following the intro, the “Interstate Love Affair” video kicks in properly with travelogue footage of the band and their cross-headed mascot making their way around the U.S. in their blink-coded van. Mischief ensues by the time they hit a field to light off an ass-load of fireworks, plow the van through a pyramid of old TVs, and start buzzsawing the roof of their vehicle. There’s also scenes of the crew hitting a skate ramp, and someone covered in shaving cream starts shooting a shotgun at one point.

While Haywire had issued a split release with Dropkick Murphys earlier this year, I Don’t Wanna Say Goodbye will be the proper follow-up to 2024 full-length CONDITIONED FOR DEMOLITION , which had been released through DAZE.
The new album was produced by Citizen’s Mat Kerekes, and it was mixed by Taylor Young (Twitching Tongues, God’s Hate) at The Pit Studio. Sessions took place across a three-month span at studios in Leeds, UK, and Toledo, Ohio. The record also features guest appearances from members of Nothing, the Aggrolites, and “other friends of Haywire.”
I Don’t Wanna Say Goodbye drops October 2nd via Roadrunner Records, but you can pre-order it now on exclusive “Silver” vinyl (limited to 300 copies), via Revolver’s shop.
While Haywire revealed today that they were forced to pull out of an Australian tour over visa issues, their U.S. tour schedule resumes in September with dates alongside Circle Jerks and Turnstile. You’ll find the remaining show details below.
