“Call Me Little Sunshine” is a quintessential Ghost song. Doomy riffs played with arena-ready gusto, foreboding verses, a bombastic, almost holy-sounding chorus and lyrics about motherfucking Satan. The Impera single is everything Tobias Forge excels at wrapped into one neat package, but Fabienne Erni’s version of “Call Me Little Sunshine” is almost completely unrecognizable from the original.
The singer of swiss folk-metal vets, Eluveitie, shared a cover of “Call Me Little Sunshine” that reconfigures the triumphant occult-rock anthem into a slow, sensual piano ballad. Erni’s version kind of sounds like Amy Whinehouse singing Ghost, and it’s interesting to hear this song in a completely different context.
