Following Failure’s career-arc-exploring documentary from earlier this year, the cult space-rock adventurists have been announced as the headlining act for the aptly-named and inaugural Space Echo festival in Chicago, Illinois next year.
The full line-up for the event was announced today (November 10th), and it’s explained that the one-day show taking place at Chicago’s Radius venue on May 2nd features “a specially curated lineup with respect to Failure.”
The headliners are poised celebrate the 30th anniversary of their 1996 classic Fantastic Planet, though it’s unclear if that means they will be performing the album in full.
What’s more certain is that the line-up also includes supporting sets from metal titans Baroness, reunited sludgesters Torche, Kansas City post-hardcore vets Shiner and long-running alt-rock outfit And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead.
Also on the bill will be Ringo Deathstarr, Spotlights, Slow Mass and Bleary Eyed.

As previously reported, Failure began streaming their Every Time You Lose Your Mind documentary earlier this year via Hulu, while a BluRay release has since become available via the band’s website. Their last album release was 2021’s Wild Type Droid.
