ECCA VANDAL announces new album with fiesty song “SORRY! CRASH!”

Sorry, not sorry: Deftones favorite and rising alt-punk artist Ecca Vandal has just announced the full details behind her next album, which is called LOOKING FOR PEOPLE TO UNFOLLOW! Better yet, she’s done so while debuting her next all-energy single, a fuzz-freaked earworm called “SORRY! CRASH!”

The song, which has been in Vandal’s live set for a while, is the artist’s second single of 2026, and comes off the heels of the pop-and-rap-exploring “BLEACH”. The tune mixes punchy drum machine hits with a punk-pounded twitchiness and acidic bass fuzz, Vandal rasping about “sinking to the ocean floor” before plunging towards an oceanic chorus hook (“Watch me fall”).

As for the rest of LOOKING FOR PEOPLE TO UNFOLLOW!, Vandal expressed in a statement that the record comes themed around “cutting ties with what drains your energy and distorts your vision.”

She adds: “I find empowerment in being loud and noisy especially as a woman in this global moment who grew up in a culture that told me I could not be those things.”

The 17-song album was recorded and co-produced between Vandal and Richie Buxton in the latter’s childhood bedroom in Melbourne, Australia.

“We built a tiny home studio, four walls that became a universe,” Vandal explained. “The internet was painfully slow, so we were truly disconnected from the online game. Deep in bayside Melbourne, far from our inner-city friends, that little room became our whole world for nearly two years. It held all our chaos and all our clarity, a little ‘playpen’ where we could live, play and experiment like teenagers again.

“We started making things with our hands again, tangible, imperfect, and real. We wanted to celebrate long-form, the idea of an album as a whole body of work, while the world was chasing 15-second snippets and algorithm friendly noise.”

LOOKING FOR PEOPLE TO UNFOLLOW! is out May 22nd via Loma Vista Recordings. Along with “SORRY! CRASH!” the album features previously-released singles “BLEACH,” “MOLLY,” “CRUISING TO SELF SOOTHE,” “BLEED BUT NEVER DIE” and “THEN THERE’S ONE.” Pre-orders are up here.

As previously reported, Ecca Vandal is due to hit the Coachella Festival in Indio, California this month, ahead of a leg of dates with Deftones around Australia and New Zealand. You’ll find her full tour schedule here.
