Adultery. Gunplay. Guitar solos. Slash. Dorothy’s new music video for “Tombstone Town” really does have it all.
While Dorothy’s still about a month out from the pulling the trigger and releasing her new album, The Way, the country-rockin’ artist has now partnered with Revolver to premiere the new pistol-whippin’, grindhouse-gritty music video for her recent revenge-driven collaboration with the iconic Guns N’ Roses guitarist.
The clip for “Tombstone Town” begins with some spoken-word narration from Dorothy around how she tracked down a cheatin’ ex at a seedy motel room (“He’d gone missing, and we had unfinished business”). While she quickly gets capped by the two-timin’ cad, the video soon finds Dorothy returning from the grave to repay the betrayer in kind.
The visuals mix shots of Dorothy singing in a cemetery with snappy scenes of violence. Aesthetically, it conjures campy midnight B-movies and the fever-dream driving scenes from Natural Born Killers — though seeing Slash torch his fretboard in front of a burning church gives off strong “November Rain” vibes, too.
“I’m so honored to have Slash join me on ‘Tombstone Town,’” Dorothy tells Revolver. “The song is an excerpt from my diary, born out of betrayal and heartache. The music video has a plot twist at the end. I felt it was best to send a message of forgiveness — of walking away with your head held high — rather than vengeance. The song itself was a therapy session for me.”
