Ever feel beaten down by the weight of the world? Well, Ovtlier feel you, which is why the Rochester, New York rockers have made their return with a perseverance-themed battle anthem called “Warriors,” which likewise brings in guest screams from Motionless in White’s Chris Motionless.
The spirits-raising hard-rock track was written by Ovtlier vocalist Joey Arena, alongside producer Justin DeBlieck (Ice Nine Kills, Motionless In White), Alecia “Mixi” Demnar (Stitched Up Heart) and Joel DeMartino. Above a neck-snapping guitar crunch, Arena leans into a series of clear-eyed lyrics about rising up in the face of adversity.
As you can see up above, the video takes this literally, presenting the Ovtlier frontman as an undead warlord leading a zombified battalion to better days. A cloaked and corpse-painted Motionless likewise lends beastly screams and dire warnings to enemies within the second verse and the fully-screamed bridge.
“‘Warriors’ is a song that’s just built different,” Arena commented. “It encompasses all of who and what Ovtlier is. Add a powerhouse like Chris to the mix and you have something extra special. I could not be more excited to collaborate with someone with such talent but even more, a friend!”
Motionless added: “I’ve been following Ovtlier for a while now and I see how bad they want it, and what they are willing to do to get it. It’s tough to find that kind of dedication these days, so I wanted to do my part in helping an up-and-coming band get some more eyes and ears on them. I love the song and it’s blend of genres I grew up loving, so it was an easy call to sing on ‘Warriors.'”
“Warriors” follows Ovtlier’s djent-popped “Dead Man Running” single from 2023. The band are set to appear at a pair of U.S. festivals ahead of a summer tour with A Skylit Drive and VRSTY.
