Blind Rock is a seven-piece band from Belarus who specialize in bruising, throwback thrash. They also all happen to be visually impaired (save for the drummer) and have taken to Kickstarter to fund the recording of their debut album. According to the campaign text on the site, each of the members are living off of social benefits in their native country, which constitutes to about 100 Euros a month. Obviously, that does not leave a lot leftover to book a studio.
“We turn to you to collect money for our first album to be recorded in a studio, a video recording, and copyright protection,” reads the pitch. “If you support our project, and we manage to raise a larger sum, we plan to purchase instruments, amplifiers, and other equipment for band rehearsals and performances, because these days we are given all this by compassionate musicians, who believe in us.”
Blind Rock are looking for $50,000, with the usual patronage rewards in place. ($10 gets you a digital copy of the album, $30 gets you a T-shirt, etc.) Check out their Kickstarter video below.
