BLACK VEIL BRIDES announce new album with revenge anthem “Vindicate”

Black Veil Brides assured us with “certainty” earlier in the year that their next album was on the way, and that they’d be promoting it on an upcoming North American tour. Now, the metal-and-rock-channeling veterans have formally confirmed that the record is called VINDICATE, and they’re promoting it with the anthemically battering song of the same name.

Following up the belief-questioning themes of the January-launched “Certainty” single, the video for “Vindicate” is full of apple-biting religious allegory. Scenes within a nunnery reflect church-driven corporal punishment, moments of forbidden lust, and determined revenge (“I’ll fucking vindicate my life and bury what’s left of you”).

These all come mixed with shots of Black Veil Brides crunching through dirt-nasty moshes and arena-ready choruses. Vocalist Andy Biersack is seen throughout either letting out a demonic wail or drinking deep on a gallon of blood.

Since there are some sensually skin-bearing and implicitly-sadomasochistic scenes to behold throughout the vid, let’s consider this slightly NSFW-ish.

A press release notes that VINDICATE, as an album, collects songs about struggle and resilience, and that “sometimes it’s about getting even with someone else, sometimes it’s about confronting ourselves and our past, our pain, or the things that were done to us.”

“This record is rooted in the feelings of revenge and vindication,” Biersack added in a statement. “These are emotions that can either push us forward or hold us back. There’s a duality to them. They can fuel growth, drive ambition, and help us rise above what’s tried to break us, but they can also become destructive if we let them consume us,”

The album sees release May 8th via Spinefarm Records, though an exclusive “Transparent Orange” vinyl variant is available to pre-order now in Revolver’s shop. VINDICATE also includes previously released singles “Bleeders,” “Hallelujah,” and “Certainty.”

As previously reported, Black Veil Brides launch their North American tour just ahead of the album’s release. The trek — which sees them supported by From Ashes to New, TX2 and As December Falls — begins April 25th at Riverside, California’s Municipal Auditorium.
