Ahead of hitting the road with Poison the Well and Converge this week, Aughts metalcore revivalists Balmora have announced the impending arrival of a hard-battering debut LP they’re calling These Graven Halls.
The Connecticut-made quintet fully unveiled their album plans today (March 31st), alongside a new single called “Ophelia.” The track heads from run-and-gunning melodeath towards pinch-squealing metal harmonies, down-in-the-dirt breakdown and more. It marks the band’s first piece of music with new vocalist Paul Cole. The song also features a guest spot from Holder’s Brie Percy.
“‘Ophelia’ is a story of betrayal, heartbreak, revenge and forgiveness,” Balmora guitarist Jay Torblaa commented. “It’s meant to highlight the nature of initial anger, action, and remorse in a hanging balance system.”
The upcoming These Graven Halls follows 2025’s Prologue cassingle. The album was recorded at The Source in New Haven, Connecticut, with production, engineering and mixing duties held down by Torblaa and drummer Chaz Torok. It was mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege.
The album is said to weigh in on themes of “self-reflection… anguish, deception and power.” In addition to Percy’s guest spot, Cole is also trading bars with Empty Shell Casing’s DJ PUNCHDRUNK, I Promise the World vocalist Hunter Wilson, Upon Stone’s Xavier Wahlberg and more.
These Graven Halls sees release May 29th through DAZE records, but a pre-order on “Clear Purple w/ Yellow & White Splatter” vinyl (limited to 150) is available for preorder in Revolver’s shop.
As previously reported, Balmora are one of the openers on Poison the Well and Converge’s spring tour, which begins April 2nd at Cleveland, Ohio’s House of Blues. They’re also a part of the upcoming Summer Slaughter tour with Hatebreed. You’ll find all of their tour schedule below.
