Fiery speed-metal veterans DragonForce have just announced that former Arch Enemy and current Blue Medusa vocalist Alissa White-Gluz is their new singer, and their first show together is coming up quick — this weekend, actually.
A press release confirms that White-Gluz has joined forces with DragonForce, and they’ll be mounting the stage together this Saturday (May 9th) at Welcome to Rockville in Daytona Beach, Florida. Following that, they hit Columbus, Ohio’s Sonic Temple fest on May 17th. Both shows mark the beginning of DragonForce’s 20th anniversary celebrations behind 2006’s Inhuman Rampage LP.
Per longtime guitarist Herman Li, the addition of White-Gluz is “an expansion of everything we’ve done up to this point.”
“Together we will honor what made Inhuman Rampage matter, while showing people exactly where we’re going next,” he said. “Having Alissa in the room changes everything. She doesn’t just sing; she makes all aspects of our music better. And she sounds incredible live! I can’t wait for the fans to see her and hear what we have been working on.”
White-Gluz adds that she’s “beyond excited” to be rampaging alongside DragonForce.
“It feels great to showcase all the colors of my voice and utilize all my singing styles in technically challenging, deeply energizing, highly addictive songs,” she continues. “I am so thankful for the amazing support I have been lucky enough to receive from the metal world over this wild career I’ve built; I want to keep pushing my boundaries and delivering exceptional music and live experiences to the fans that I cherish so much.”
As previously reported, White-Gluz’s new Blue Medusa project make their onstage debut later this year at the Louder Than Life and Aftershock festivals.
