Here at Revolver, we’re always on the hunt for new songs to bang our heads to — indeed, it’s a big part of our jobs. With that in mind, here are the tracks released this week in nu-core, psychedelic doom, deathcore and more that have been on heavy rotation at Revolver HQ.

Carnifex – “Roses & Rotting Corpses”
Just in time for Mother’s Day, Carnifex have unveiled a potent bouquet of deathcore putrescence with their “Roses & Rotting Corpses.” Are you ready to take a whiff?
The song — a straight-savage blur of inhumanly battered-down blasts and dark-vibed metal trills — is the band’s first for new label home Sumerian Records, and Carnifex unearth a ton of intensity on the mortality-contemplating beater (“Feel the grave dirt beneath your feet”).
This is all to say: Carnifex’s “Rose” by any other name would sound just as sick.
GILT – “…On the Side of the New Jersey Turnpike”
We’re feeling the earth shake, and it’s probably because GILT are out here overloading new single “…On the Side of the New Jersey Turnpike” with Richter-triggering, nu-quaked heaviness.
Guitarist Tyle Fieldhouse described the song as “a first-person power fantasy… violently dismantling power structures,” and the vengeance-seeking lyrics ultimately turn the tables with scorched-earth intent (“I am become your God”).
The track has vocalist Asha Locke exploring the rocky terrain with fierce screams and melodic zeal before the band ride-out an efficiently monstrous one-note groove.
Melting – “The Sword”
“Don’t forget your place, beneath me.”
Melbourne, Australia, metalcore unit Melting only need about a minute to get the point across with “The Sword.” A no-nonsense beatdown of deep, soul-bent guitar damage and all-pummel drumming, this preview from their impending A Pathetic Excuse For A Life EP posits that these sovereigns are poised to reign supreme Down Under and abroad.
The record is due out later this month. We’re going to take a stab in the dark and say it’s going to be killer, from tip to grip.
Motionless in White – “Playing God” (Feat. Corey Taylor)
Motionless in White’s Chris Motionless and Slipknot’s Corey Taylor put their best boots forward and stomp through a vicious take down of toxic algorithms, vulturous click-bait culture and IG clout-chasing.
While it kicks off with a not-so-subtle, “Eyeless”-style breakbeat and a nu-ggressive four-on-floor feel, the song mixes those classic ‘Knotisms with Motionless’ melodic metalcore and a devilishly dark-squealing breakdown.
We’re not sure this consists a hot take exactly, but “Playing God” plays for keeps.
REZN – “Cloudfall”
The lyrics to REZN’s “Cloudfall” were apparently inspired by bouts of sleep paralysis, vocalist-guitarist Rob McWilliams hypnotically crooning of being stunned into nocturnal submission above dreamily distorted and doom-crested guitar layers. The track has got a hold of us, too, between its soft-doom psychedelia and the pealing prettiness of Spencer Ouellette’s lap steel playing.
We’re wide awake obsessed with “Cloudfall,” but considering its sleep-related theme, REZN also have us wondering whether the Land of Nod is a haven for headbangers.
sace6 – “nepenthe”
“Give me something to remember.”
sace6 have had folks fever-pitch frenzied over the past few months in anticipation of the act’s debut album, brutalist — which finally dropped in full today. Found in the back-half of the LP, “nepenthe” finds the Thall&B duo delivering a soothing mix of soft-crooned vocals and effects-messed metallic hooks that the fans are sure to drink up quick.
As the band continue their North American tour with Dayseeker, expect sace to sing this like an angel while guitarist-producer Noah Thomas spinkicks through each hypo-heavy riff like a maniac.
